Preparation

I decided to make a short animation paired with an audio clip from the www.11secondclub.com

I have picked a short clip, where a woman is in an awkward situation and tries to get away by saying she need's the toilet, but can't quite remember the name of it.

This is from the popular tv show, Parks and Recreation.

The storyline I have decided for my animation, is an awkward date.
So it starts off with her guy friend puckering up for a kiss, then you see her grossed out by the idea, and as she's trying to recall the name of the said bathroom she's slowly trying to get away from her date. Then when she eventually leaves the table, we see her date looking very confused at what just happened.
The at the last second she pop's her head out of the toilet door to tell him that "it's called a bathroom".

This is a very rough storyboard of what I want my animation to go like, it's very rough because I like to have room to make changes and add new poses and emotions.

Thinking of what she's trying to say.

This was a guide of what the guy's "Kissy face" would look like in the animation, and below that we have a rough guide of the girl getting up from the table, I posed this out using myself and a mirror to get the positions correct.

Some images of her poses when she say's certain things, when she say's "The toilet..............thing" I wanted her to a hand roll to show she's thinking of what to say and expressing it with her hands.
Also there's her at the end of the animation, assuring the guy, she knows what a bathroom is called, by popping her head around the door yelling at him.

But before she assures him, we see the guy's confused face at why she's being so weird.

And that's a drawing of a bathroom door.

Mouth Shapes, for the lip syncing.

Just some basic drawings of what will be in the restaurant and a birds eye view of the restaurant in the top right corner. I'm just modelling a few basic items because I really want to focus on the animation, and since it's a restaurant, it's a case of making a few items then just duplicating them.

This is a reference video, for when the girl is getting up from the chair, I just wanted to see how I could express the emotions with simple arm movements.
